What I keep noticing is the thing a team does by hand every month and has stopped seeing. The script someone rewrites every quarter. The exception nobody recorded. The report one person owns. I build the system that removes it, and I write about what breaks at scale and what I do instead.

Outside work I run a personal AI system for capture and retrieval, written up in the articles below, and I offer a 1:1 hour for engineers earlier on the same path.

RuleBeat is an open-source, self-hosted Azure governance tool. It runs the rules you create and customize on a schedule and tracks every finding until it is fixed. Every check is a rule, built-in or custom, in a visual builder or as a raw query against Azure Resource Graph or Microsoft Graph.

It runs inside your own Azure subscription as one container, sends no telemetry, and is open source (Apache-2.0) and free. I am the maintainer and I build it in the open.
